Carolina Courts Announces 2019 Pickleball Tournament Schedule

Carolina Courts “Concord” 2019 Pickleball Schedule

Carolina Courts CEO Scott Chitwood announced last week that Carolina Courts Concord will be cutting it’s pickleball schedule from six to three major tournaments per year beginning in 2019.  Tournaments for 2019 include the March Madness, Beat the Heat and Holiday Smash.  All three of these tournaments are indoors and have proven to be very popular in the past.  In addition to the Carolina Court series, there is consideration for a venue to host the annual Powerade Games in 2019.  Tournament Director Bob Nibarger stated that “indoor pickleball space with 18 courts is very difficult to find in the Charlotte area.  Space must be reserved months in advance and must work around basketball, volleyball and other sports camps”.  Reducing pickleball for 2019 is due, in part, to the growth of pickleball in the tri-state region.  When Carolina Courts began it’s series, there were very few tournaments within the Charlotte area.  Pickleball tournaments are now available just about every week in the four state area.  Less than 100 signed up for the July Firecracker Explosion which factored in the decision to cut back on pickleball.
