Stay N Play – Retreats – Camping & More

Many Picklers are combining their travel and vacations with a rich mixture of pickleball.  Recently, the RV community announced a partnership with the USAPA and the Family Motorcoach Association to promote pickleball at the thousands of US RV campgrounds.  Several planned events have occurred or will be taking place in December.  One very popular event this year was held at Lake Tahoe as the USAPA held an Ambassador retreat.  From the USAPA we have more:  ScreenHunter_789 Nov. 30 06.43

What a great idea Larry & Rita Tucker had…..Let’s do an Ambassador Retreat at the Granlibakken Resort in Lake Tahoe, California. This beautiful alpine resort is on 74 acres, a secluded valley with wonderful accommodations, meeting spaces for our seminars, close to the town of Tahoe City… room for 18 pickleball courts! Thanks to all the organizers for an enriching and exciting time that was had by all.Over 100 ambassadors and guests attended the retreat from 23 states plus Costa Rica; 135 to be exact. Cocktail parties took place every evening under the stars, giving the ambassadors a chance to interact with each other on an informal basis. On Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 12 seminars were presented in small groups to all of the ambassadors, allowing the attendees to give feedback, suggestions and ask questions. Tuesday topics included: Growing Smart (USAPA membership); The Importance of Training; Pickleball Outreach and Order in the Court; How to Run a Successful Tournament; Clipboard Follies (referee certification); Looking into the USAPA Crystal Ball. Thursday’s topics were: Making Pickleball More Fun; Code of Conduct for Ambassadors; Tournament Sponsorship and Marketing; A School for Rules (USAPA rule changes); Demos and Clinics and an open roundtable. A summary of each presentation was sent to each attending ambassador and will also be available to all USAPA ambassadors. Of course, the ambassadors loved to play pickleball on the 18 courts. Open play took place each afternoon allowing all skill levels to have fun and make new friends. In addition, there were organized round robins and a fantastic rodeo on the last day. Demos were provided by our sponsors for paddles, ball machines, software and court surfaces as well as teaching clinics. It rained on Wednesday morning, so the ambassadors improvised with a class on how to teach pickleball, ball machine demonstration and small tutorials. Many picklers enjoyed a luncheon cruise aboard the paddle steamer, Tahoe Gal, on Lake Tahoe with opportunity to experience magnificent vistas while visiting and sharing ideas with new friends. Friday evening was the “Hasta Luego” cocktail, dinner, raffle AND dance party complete with DJ. The goodbye party was the culmination of the retreat, where new friendships and new ideas were celebrated and, of course, a toast was made to PICKLEBALL. So many new pickleball friends, so many new ideas shared, and best of all, everyone had a wonderful time.  Enjoy our video….  VIDEO

To round out the year is a combined pickleball clinic and travel experience at Punta Cana.  ScreenHunter_788 Nov. 30 06.13
